FC WEST YOUTH SOCCER FALL 2009 REGISTRATION INFORMATION

The deadline for fall registration is July 1st.  If you register after the deadline there is an addition $10 fee and you will only be placed on a team if space is available.  You can register at Frye's Action Athletics in Forest Grove or online by clicking on the "Registration" tab above.

 AGE GROUP/TEAM REQUESTS

The "U" in the age group designation signifies "under" (e.g. U6 means under age 6).  The cut-off date for age group placement is August 1st, 2009.  A player who is not yet six years old on August 1st, 2009 is considered U6.  No player is allowed to play in a lower age group.  However, under certain circumstances a player may be allowed to play in a higher age group.  The most important factor in deciding to place a player in a higher age group is whether it is in the best interests of the player.  While we do our best to honor requests for a specific coach or teammate, it is not always possible to meet every request.  The earlier the registration form is submitted the better the chance is of having your requests satisfied.

REGISTRATION COST/SCHOLARSHIPS

The registration cost for fall 2009 is $50 for U6 – U8 and $80 for U9 and above.  The registration fee includes a uniform shirt for U6 - U8 and a full uniform (jersey, shorts and socks) for U9 and above.  If a U8 player is placed on a U9 team they will be required to pay the additional $30 to cover the cost of the their uniform and referee fees.  The U9 and above uniforms will be the same for all teams in FC West and will remain the same for the next several years so that they can be used again in future seasons.  Scholarships are available to qualified players.  To qualify for a scholarship you must submit proof of free or reduced lunch qualification, Oregon Trail Card information, or a letter to the board with a brief explanation of the need for a scholarship.  Please attach this information to the registration form.

GAMES

Most teams will have practice two nights a week starting in August.  Practice days, times, and locations will be determined by the coach of each team.  Games will be played on Saturdays starting after Labor Day weekend and run through the end of October.  U6-U8 teams will play against other FC West teams on fields in and around Forest Grove.  U9-U14 teams will play in the Tualatin Valley Youth Soccer League sponsored by the Hillsboro Soccer Club.  These games may be played as far away as St. Helens. 

VOLUNTEER INFORMATION

FC West is run entirely by volunteers.  You can contribute to the success of the club by offering your time in a variety of positions including: coaching, field maintenance, refereeing, team parent, fund raising, and others.  Please indicate on the registration form how you would like to help.

COACHING

We are constantly in need of coaches, especially at the younger age groups.  No experience is needed and coaching clinics are available free of charge to help new and experienced coaches learn and improve their coaching skills.   If you are interested in coaching please contact Kelly Waugh at (503) 367-7248 or e-mail to kelly.waugh@sun.com.
